What is BIO-NYC?

By Invitation Only was created by professional theatre makers and educators to ensure that quality and intensive training is not only a seasonal endeavor. Our weeklong long summer program is designed to keep artists active and engaged whether they are between jobs or on a break from college. Those being invited to participate are students from top college arts programs, artists in residence at highly regarded theaters and institutions, and young professionals looking for an opportunity to get back into a classroom setting with Broadway’s best actors, directors, and vocal coaches. If you have been invited to join this unique and exciting program, it is because of the hard work and dedication you have shown to your craft as well as by recommendation from one of our illustrious faculty members.

What can you expect from BIO-NYC?

By Invitation Only is not for the faint of heart. All classes will be crafted by top tier professional artists with the intention of pushing you to the max. Dance classes will be catered to differing levels of ability and taught by some of Broadway’s fiercest dancers and choreographers. Vocal performance classes and individual voice lessons will be led by a variety of educators including professional casting directors, theatre directors, performance coaches, and vocal health instructors. On camera classes will be led by successful industry professionals with years of experience and training in television and film. All participants will be expected to give 100% to this intensive.

What classes can I expect to take?

By Invitation Only consists of 35+ hours of bespoke training in multiple disciples including:

  • Daily Acting Classes (On Camera, Monologue Class, Scene Study, Improv, etc.)

  • Daily Vocal Performance Classes (Audition Prep, Song Interp., Comedy Songs)

  • Daily Dance Classes (Musical Theatre, Styles, Jazz, Contemporary, Fosse, Tap) will be led by industry professionals like Broadway veteran and Director/Choreographer Tyler Hanes, plus many more

  • Q & A’s with Broadway Celebs like Tony Nominees Jeremy Jordan, Rob McClure, Kara Lindsay, and more

  • Casting Director Workshops with the best in the business

  • Business of the Business Seminars

  • Headshot and Resume Classes

  • Individual voice lessons

  • Artists As Activist Panel and Discussion led by Wicked’s own Jenna Bainbridge (Broadway’s very first wheelchair using Nessa Rose)

  • Forging Your Own Path Panel led by Kristolyn Lloyd star of Dear Evan Hansen and 1776

  • Songwriting seminar for aspiring composers led by Fred Ebb Award Winner Will Reynolds

How much does it all cost?

BIO-NYC is competitively priced at $2,995 We urge you to look at similarly designed programs to see how we arrived at this number.  Then hurry up and secure your space! A non-refundable $250 deposit is due with the application.

Are there scholarships available?

Yes! A limited number of partial scholarships will be granted on a first come first serve basis. Once the scholarship fund is depleted, no more funding will be made available. If you wish to apply for a scholarship, please fill out the attached scholarship form and send it in ASAP.

Who make up the faculty of BIO-NYC?

Our priority at BIO-NYC is to connect you with the best performers and educators currently working in New York City and around the country. Teaching artists include Broadway performers, Tony nominees, Broadway Directors & Musical Directors, and College Educators. This summer’s roster is set to include:

What is the age requirement to enroll?

All registrants must be at least 18 years of age.

What do I need to prepare?

Come prepared with at least 4-6 complete songs, but you must have 32 bar cuts prepared. Accompaniment tracks are required for individual voice lessons.

What if I can no longer attend and I’ve already paid?

Both your application fee and tuition are non-refundable. However, if you are accepted into the program and have not yet paid your tuition, then you will only forfeit the deposit.
